I just setup the moblogging feature for ExpressionEngine. This allows me to post to this blog (including images) via email. I’m hoping that it will help me keep the site up to date.
And here’s a photo of Julia!

This summer I thought it would be fun to install a flagstone patio. It turned out to be quite an experience. Here are some photos, and I’ll have a full write up soon.
And some rainwater collection for you hippies out there.

In March 2007 we took a sweet trip out to Utah. We had fantastic weather and great snowboarding conditions. Check out more photos on Flickr.

Looks to be a great resource for Mac nubies interested in learning all of the great things they can do with their new machine.

Interestingly enough this track was written by a Canadian band after touring the US in the late 60's. It spent three weeks in the Number 1 position on the US charts competing with tracks by the Beatles and The Jackson 5.

Do I believe that Apple is working on and will release a cell phone within the next 12 months? Yes. Will I hold off and purchase that phone (and whatever service will be required to make it fully functional)? No. Read on to hear why.
I think that Apple is surely up to something in the mobile arena. With all of the varying reports of iPhones, tablets, wireless iPods, etc... there is no reason to think they are not planning their moves in order to cash in on this billion dollar industry. I do not, however, think that the first phone (or wireless device) that they release will be aimed at the professional or even prosumer. I believe that the first device will feature an iPod like interface and Bluetooth. I think that this first foray into the mobile world will be a glorified iPod, potentially with GSM phone capabilities (in order to piggyback onto Cingular or TMobile networks) but also require a new style plan (most likely offered straight from Apple) in order to access the ITMS. I also believe that the phone itself will be tightly integrated with .Mac and it's accompyning services (mail, groups, iDisk, etc...).
I will not purchase this device though. The lack of a QWERTY keyboard, Airport Extreme (802.11g), various peripheral ports (USB, FW, etc...) and even a slick version of OS X scaled down to fit the processor and screen will leave a lackluster device for the business professional. Do I blame Apple for this approach? No. They are slowly gaining ground in the business sector I'm sure, but this is not their target market. For Apple to release a device aimed at the business professional glorifying it's "connectivity" through marketing, they risk alienating their bread and butter market, the iPod generation. Has your younger sibling ever complained about the lack of WiFi on the Treo 650? Exactly.
So in conclusion, I will not hold out for an Apple mobile device as there is no sign of one coming over the next few months and even if it does, I don't believe it will be aimed at professionals.

Having gone through a somewhat painful upgrade and activation process (thanks Justin) I'm happy to report that Phuture Design (primarily myself and Asia soon) is now using Creative Suite 2. At first glance I'm very impressed. Here are the features I'm currently exploring.
Bridge seems to totally rock. Having just re-organzied my client and project data and with the introduction of job numbers into our workflow, Bridge allows me to manage the creative process through a dynamic GUI. Having assets, versions of creative literally laid out before me I am able to ensure files are organized and can span applications. Cool.
These appear to be awesome. When pasting something from Illustrator into Photoshop I was asked how I would like to paste the object (Smart Object, Pixels, Path, Shape Object). Choosing Smart Object allows the artwork to retain its vector state as well as receive "in-document" updates if you modify the original. Very cool.
More soon.

So I'm going to take the Treo 650 for another spin. Cingular (my service provider) and Palm (formerly known as PalmOne) have just released an update to the Treo's firmware that updates the VersaMail client to 3.0c and adds Dial Up Networking (DUN) support via Bluetooth. These two features kept me from holding on to the device back in February. Hopefully this time around the device will perform properly as there are no other solid choices in EDGE capable, iSync compatible, QWERTY keyboard phones.
I'll keep this area posted with the results.

Upon visiting Amazon.com today I was greeted by a new homepage. I subtle blue header and refined navigation is much easier on the eyes then their previous tab structure. I'm not thrilled with the "Gregory's": Store | Account | Cart, etc... setup though.

"Plan is one of the most significant contemporary art projects to emerge from Poland. Over the course of two years, Aneta Grzeszykowska and Jan Smaga created a series of ten highly unusual photographic prints: each piece documents the entirety of an apartment, including its occupants, from a normally unavailable perspective - from above. Hundreds of individual photographs are processed and merged using computers to produce the finished piece. In his essay on Grzeszykowska and Smaga's work, Marek Krajewski marvels at the "perfection, continuity, and completeness of representation - unimaginable in traditional photography."

Being that I'm in the business of designing and building websites, many of my clients use email as a way to communicate with their users/audiences and I'm often asked to design and deploy their email campaigns. Many clients, however, are not aware of the rules governing email marketing and are shocked when I inform them of what is or isn't legal.
